About James
James’ yoga journey began in high school when his mother “dragged” him along to a class telling him it would help with the upcoming Lacrosse season. He was not into it! A couple of years later as a college sophomore at UCLA he was going through a lot of soul searching and happened upon an evening yoga class at the recreation center. The teacher created such a calming atmosphere that drew him out of the anxieties and allowed him to really connect with his body and breath. Each time he left chilled out and ready to take on the world. It would be a few years until another yoga class caught his attention. His path led him to explore the lakes of Northeastern Canada as a canoe trip guide, the City of Angels as a waiter and aspiring actor (he is two steps away from Kevin Bacon!), the rivers of Southern Utah as a whitewater guide, the San Juan Islands as a house keeper and sea kayak guide and back home to Salt Lake City, Utah as a care taker for his older brother Judd during a battle with cancer. During his brother’s battle with cancer the two were led to a free class for cancer patients and care givers at a local yoga studio taught by the amazing Amy Conn. From this class James began to develop an intimate relationship with his yoga practice that became an essential part of his life.
James earned his yoga teaching certificate from InBody Academy in 2010 and his B.A. in History from the University of Utah in 2011. Over the past decade he has built a career from two of his greatest passions: music and yoga. Currently James teaches studio yoga classes with the Mosaic Yoga collective in Salt Lake City, runs “glow yoga” events to the music of famous bands such as Pink Floyd in downtown Salt Lake at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center, leads domestic and international yoga retreats, teaches yoga, music and runs a school of rock type program at a therapeutic boarding school for teenage boys, teaches private music lessons from his home, and performs and records with his band The Hardy Brothers. Visit The Hardy Brothers website to check recently released music, watch live footage and find out about upcoming shows.
'One Love' is a reference to the musician Bob Marley. The word ‘yoga‘ translates from Sanskrit into English as ‘union,' and what better union than the love that binds and surrounds us all.
“One love, one heart, lets get together and feel alright.” - Robert Nesta Marley
